Case against mother accused of attempting to murder her teen daughter delayed

A central Queensland mother accused of stabbing her teenage daughter six times in the chest has had her case delayed.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was charged with attempted murder after paramedics found the teenage girl in a critical condition at the pair's home on July 18.

Police will allege the mother also attacked a 20-year-old man who was with her daughter at the time.

The woman cannot be named due to legal reasons.

A brief of evidence was due to be submitted on Wednesday, but the woman's solicitor from Legal Aid Queensland, Erin Beer, appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday to ask for an extension.

Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan noted the file of evidence was likely to be large and granted a four-and-a-half month extension.

The mother last appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court on July 20 after being cleared to face court after a mental health assessment.

She has spent more than five weeks in custody.

Ms Beer told the court her client had made an application for bail but said she would present it to the court on another day.

The case is next due for mention on January 3, 2023.
