Carson Wentz’s chances of staying in Philadelphia have increased with Eagles parting ways with Doug Pederson

The Carson Wentz era in Philadelphia just got a second chance, after owner Jeffrey Lurie fired head coach Doug Pederson on Monday.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Wentz’s chances of returning to the Eagles in 2021 have increased with Pederson out of the fold.

Wentz’s disastrous 2020 season was a major storyline this season for the Eagles, who finished 4-11-1 and in the last place in the NFC East after the quarterback led the NFL in sacks and interceptions.

Wentz is set to start the first year of a four-year, $128 million extension and trading the star signal-caller would incur a $33 million cap hit on the Eagles’ 2021 salary cap.
