Carson Wentz rumors: Mystery team now in the mix as Eagles appear set to trade franchise QB

As we wave goodbye to the 2020 NFL season, fans and critics alike appear set to do the same to embattled quarterback Carson Wentz is set to be traded.

Mike Kaye of NJ Advance Media is reporting that a deal for Wentz is “close”, with a mystery third team now in the mix along with the Bears and Colts.

“I think that ship has sailed,” a person said. “I expect him to go (Monday) or (Tuesday).”

According to the source, the belief around the league is that the trade market will come down to the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. While a third undisclosed team is said to be in the mix, the source noted that the Bears and Colts are in the driver’s seat and a deal is “close.”

Wentz has relationships with both coaching staffs, as the Colts have head coach Frank Reich, wide receivers coach Mike Groh and Press Taylor on the staff.

In Chicago, Wentz has worked with Bears QBs coach John DeFilippo and will need someone to believe in him after a 2020 season that saw the former No. 2 overall pick led the league in interceptions (15) and sacks (50).
