Carson Wentz QB rating when targeting TE’s suggest both Ertz and Goedert will have huge seasons

Carson Wentz has one of the better quarterback ratings in all of football and the numbers suggest that it’ll be even higher this season thanks to his two quality tight ends. Pro Football Focus broke down the numbers, and Wentz most deadly when targeting his so-called outlet receiver.

That spells huge numbers for both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert out of the 12 personnel or just positive matchups all around.

The rating drops when Wentz starts to target his outside receivers, but the more the balls start to funnel inside to the tight ends, the higher his rating. Last season in the 11 games Wentz was the quarterback, Ertz was targeted 106 times, averaging 9.64 targets per game. The number should drop to about 5 or six depending on the given matchup because DeSean Jackson and Goedert should logically split three of those targets this seasons.

For Ertz, the goal shouldn’t be smashing his record 116 catches in one season, but to continue to hover around 85-90 balls this seasons. The goal for the Eagles should be quality over quantity, with Wentz spreading the ball around equally.
