Carson Wentz preparing for “chess match” with Falcons talented pass-defense

Carson Wentz had a huge stat line against the Washington Redskins, going 28 of 39 passing, for 313 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

According to Pro Football Focus, Wentz got rid of the ball quickly and accurately, as he picked apart the Redskins in the second half. With the threat of DeSean Jackson scaring the daylights out of Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, look for Atlanta to back their corners off, giving Wentz the underneath to work with.

Wentz is cognitive of the Falcons defense holding Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins to 8 of 10 passing, for 97 yards. Whether it’s the Falcons secondary being strong against the pass or the Eagles having a possible opening for a heavy dose of the running game on Sunday, Wentz is focused on being patient with the Atlanta defense.

Add in the fact that, Wentz, in his career, is just 3-10 on the road against teams that have finished the season with a winning record. Atlanta will trot out safeties Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen to counter Wentz’s deep attempts, while Damontae Kazee moved from the safety position to the nickel and could be a guy for the Eagles quarterback to key on.

Desmond Trufant is the Falcons most experienced corner and could see time on DeSean Jackson and Alson Jeffery.
