Carson Wentz left out of the Top 10 QB’s in the NFL by Chris Simms

Chris Simms comes from a great pedigree and he’s a highly respected up and coming NFL analyst, but this omission of Carson Wentz from the top-10 of his list of signal callers is egregious. In case you’ve been under a rock or oblivious to the NFL returning shortly, Chris Simms, the son of legendary Giants quarterback Phil Simms, put together a list of the top 40 quarterbacks in all of football.

Wentz, the Eagles star and the owner of the richest guaranteed contract in NFL history, was somehow omitted from the top-10. The reasoning for Wentz coming in behind guys like Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton, and Andrew Luck had to do with Carson’s durability issues.

“Here’s the thing with Carson Wentz and why he’s No. 11,” Simms said. “It’s really availability, is the No. 1 reason he’s No. 11. The talent is top-5 talent.”

Wentz was ranked above the Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott who was 13th on the list. The Chargers’ Philip Rivers finished one spot behind of Wentz at No. 12, with the Lions’ Matt Stafford falling at No. 14. Former Eagles backup Nick Foles took the No. 16 spot.

Last season, Wentz passed for 3,074 yards, 21 TDs (to only seven INTs) and a 102.2 passer rating, but ended the season on injured reserve for the second year in a row.
