Carson Wentz lands in the top-20 of Sporting News ranking of every QB drafted in 1st round since 2000

Carson Wentz is destined for greatness as long as he can remain healthy, and continue to lead the Eagles on Super Bowl runs while smashing franchise records. Wentz is without question the best quarterback in the NFC East and all of football as it now stands. The Sporting News has even better value for Wentz, placing him high on the list of signal callers drafted in the first round, since the 2000 season.

Despite missing the most important parts of the past two postseasons, the Sporting News ranked Wentz No. 16 out of 53 on the list of quarterbacks drafted in the last two decades.

Per The Sporting News:

16 Carson Wentz (2016-present)

Drafted: Philadelphia (No. 2)

Record: 23-17

Stats: 10,152 yards, 70 TDs, 28 INTs

Why he’s here: There is no questioning the statistical production the last three seasons under Wentz, but durability is now a concern considering Nick Foles was the starter in the playoffs the last two seasons. With Foles in Jacksonville, there is no controversy in Philadelphia. It’s time for Wentz to take full control for the Eagles.

Rounding out the top 20 in the prestigious list is former Jet stud Chad Pennington, followed by Mitchell Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield, Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer, Joe Flacco, Alex Smith, Andrew Luck, and Jared Goff. Rounding out the top 10 of the past two decades is Matthew Stafford, Patrick Mahomes, Michael Vick, Eli Manning, Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, and Aaron Rodgers is the cream of the crop.
