Cars stolen in East Lothian town over weekend found in Edinburgh and Musselburgh

Cars stolen from the same street in an East Lothian town at the weekend have been found in Edinburgh and Musselburgh.

Edinburgh Live reported at the weekend how three vehicles were taken from Gavin's Lee in Tranent. The thefts of a white Audi, a grey Ford Fiesta and a black BMW were reported to police on Sunday, May 9.

It was even said that those responsible had tampered with CCTV in the area so that there was no recording of the incident.

A police investigation was launched, and it has now been confirmed that two of the vehicles – the Fiesta and the Audi – have been recovered. The Fiesta was found in Edinburgh and the Audi in Musselburgh.

The BMW remains missing, with police continuing to probe the thefts.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are investigating the theft of three cars from Gavins Lee in Tranent. The thefts were reported to police in the early hours of Sunday, 9 May. Two of the vehicles have been recovered and one remains outstanding."

The owner of the Audi previously told how they'd been devastated by the theft, as the vehicle was "basically brand new".
