Cars left a mangled wreck following early-hours crash in Failsworth

Two cars were left in a mangled wreck following a crash in Failsworth.

Miraculously, the occupants managed to escape with just minor injuries following the incident on Manchester Road.

Both vehicles ended up skidding onto a motorway bridge, above the M60.

The white Volkswagen Polo ploughed into a barrier on the bridge, while the black Honda smashed into some traffic lights.

Police were passing when the crash took place at around 12.35am this morning (July 18).

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate.

A section of Oldham Road and Manchester Road were sealed off this morning while emergency services attended the scene.

The junction has since re-opened.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 12.35am on Saturday 18 July 2020, police stopped at the scene of a collision between a black Honda and a white Volkswagen Polo at the M60 Roxy junction on Manchester Road, Oldham.

"The road was temporarily closed and the two occupants of the Polo suffered minor injuries.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
