No-one was hurt.

Staff at the scrapyard helped firefighters deal with the situation.

A GMFRS spokesman said: "Just after 11am we received the first 999 call in relation to a fire at a scrapyard on Sandfold Lane in Manchester.

"The fire involved several cars on top of a pile of scrap cars.

"Firefighters from Withington and Whitehill stations attended and quickly brought the situation under control.

"Firefighters were supported by staff from the scrapyard who used their own crane and other equipment to help move cars.

"There were no reports of any injuries."
