Carry on Camping: Poundland launches summer camping and travel range

With holidays on hold and flights being cancelled, staycations are becoming popular with many choosing to holiday at home whether it's renting a holiday home or sleeping under the stars.

This year, Poundland has unveiled its summer camping and travel range which includes a two-person tent for just £10.

With recent reports of retailers not being able to get a supply of tents and camping gear due to a mixture of covid restrictions and the Suez Canal blockage, the money-saving store launched a range of essentials as part of its largest camping and travel offer.

The tent, which measures 205cm by 140cm, is 100 cm high and comfortable enough for two people.

Other essentials in their camping range include a £10 blow-up air bed, tent pegs, cutlery set, five-in-one camping tool, mug, bowl, plate, camping pillow and 10 litre water carrier – all for, yep you guessed it, £1 each.

And if you're nearby the beach, because why not when the weather gets warmer, you can grab beach towels for you or the kids for £5 each.

However, if the weather turns sour, they also sell a raincoat or twin poncho pack for £1 each.

But for those lucky few who can get away for camping under the stars, the range also includes European and US travel adaptors, eye masks and ear plugs, inflatable neck cushions (perfect for the car), luggage tags and passport and document holders.

Luckily more than 600 stores across the UK will stock the full camping range and more than 850 stores will have camping and travel items - not just those in popular coastal destinations.

Poundland commercial director, Tim Bettley, said: “Our buyers have been very canny planning for this summer so we can offer a wide range of camping gear despite the shortages reported elsewhere.

“After such a difficult time, we know how much the summer holidays mean to our customers and whether they’re looking forward to holidaying and day-tripping in the UK or flying abroad to get their summer sun, we’ve something for everyone.”
