Carroll or Joelinton? Almiron and Shelvey to start? Pick your Newcastle United team to face Crystal Palace

Newcastle United host Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon looking to reach the 25-point mark before Christmas.

The Magpies currently sit 11th in the table and seven points clear of the relegation zone following their recent run of form.

United suffered a setback at Turf Moor last weekend, but had previously won four of their last six Premier League matches.

Injuries forced Steve Bruce into making four changes at Burnley, with Sean Longstaff replacing in-form Jonjo Shelvey and Christian Atsu stepping in for Miguel Almiron.

Allan Saint-Maximin's hamstring complaint - which sees him join captain Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie on the long-term injury list - led Bruce to deploy record signing Joelinton in a wider role, with Andy Carroll up front.

Ciaran Clark and Ki Sung-Yueng remain absent for the visit of the Eagles, but Bruce confirmed in his press conference on Friday that Almiron and Shelvey could both be fit to return.

If both are called upon, it poses the question on how the Magpies will line up in attack, and whether Joelinton will return to his central role, remain out wide or even be forced to settle for a spot on the bench.

Roy Hodgson's side are facing their own injury crisis, with the Eagles boss confirming Scott Dann is now considered a doubt.

Patrick van Aanholt - who spent time on loan at United in 2010 - could be fit to return, but former Magpies forward Andros Townsend has been ruled out along with Gary Cahill, Jairo Ridewald, Jeffrey Schlupp, and Joel Ward.

How would you like the Magpies line-up as they attempt to achieve a swift return to winning ways? Pick your United eleven for the clash at St James' Park tomorrow above.
