Carrie Johnson and Jill Biden to meet over tea ahead of G7 Summit

Carrie Johnson and America’s First Lady Jill Biden will meet for the first time at the G7 summit today, the White House has announced.

US President Joe Biden and his wife arrived at RAF Mildenhall, in Suffolk, on Thursday.

Mr Biden will meet with Prime Minister Boris Johnson for face-to-face talks before the G7 summit officially gets underway on Friday.

Mrs Biden, 70, will meet Mrs Johnson, 33, over tea before touring St. Michael’s Mount off the coast of Cornwall, it was announced on Wednesday.

“The President and First Lady will meet with The Right Honorable Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Mrs Carrie Johnson,” a statement said.

“The First Lady and Mrs Johnson will meet separately over tea and then tour St. Michael’s Mount off the coast of Cornwall.”

Mr and Mrs Johnson married at Westminster Cathedral on May 29 in a Catholic ceremony attended by 30 guests, including their son Wilfred.

The pair also sent save-the-date cards for a wider celebration for next year July, the Daily Mail reported.

Mrs Johnson has been given the responsibility to host leaders’ spouses when they arrive to the UK for business.

She will welcome Mrs Biden as well as France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s husband, and Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, the wife of Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau.
