Carrie Fisher's daughter melts hearts as baby son watches late gran in Star Wars

Billie Lourd has honoured her late mother Carrie Fisher by getting her baby son to watch Star Wars on May the Fourth.

The American Horror Story actress, 28, welcomed her son Kingston with partner Austen Rydell in September last year.

Now as Star Wars fans around the world celebrate the iconic franchise on May the Fourth aka Star Wars Day, Billie shared her own fitting tribute to her Hollywood legend mother Carrie Fisher, who portrayed Princess Leia Organa in the belove sci-fi/fantasy series of films.

New mother Billie took to Instagram on Tuesday to share an image of her baby son lying on a bed watching the original 1977 Star Wars film, later retitled Star Wars: A New Hope, with his grandmother on the screen in the role of Leia Organa.

The second image that Billie posted showed Kingston wearing a white onesie with Princess Leia artwork emblazoned on its front.

The adorable tribute to Carrie on Star Wars Day went down a treat with Billie's followers and Star Wars fans.

Pop songstress and Billie's Scream Queens co-star Ariana Grande commented with a white heart emoji, while fellow Scream Queens actress Emma Roberts penned: "This is everything".

Billie's Booksmart co-star Kaitlyn Dever and American Horror Story star Leslie Grossman also commented with red heart emojis.

One Star Wars fan also commented: "Long live the Jedi princess and her entire family! [red heart emojis]".

"When I tell you I'm sobbing," penned another emotional fan.

Meanwhile, one Princess Leia fan wrote: "Space Queen Mom lives on in all of us."

Finally, one of Billie's followers concluded: "I wish I could [heart emoji] these pics a million times over!!! May the fourth be with you @praisethelourd ".

Billie is the only child of Carrie Fisher, who died at the age of 60 in 2016, and her former partner, talent agent Bryan Lourd.

Prior to Carrie's death, Billie appeared alongside her mother in Star Wars films The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, playing the role of Resistance member Lieutenant Connix.

Billie also briefly played the role of Leia Organa in the 2019 film The Rise of Skywalker, standing in for her late mother in a flashback scene that saw Fisher's likeness digitally added to her body.
