Supernatural actor Carrie Anne Fleming has died aged 51 – and her co-star has shared an emotional tribute, revealing he fell in love with her while making the show.
Fleming, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer, died “peacefully with her loved ones by her side” on 26 February, her representative said.
"It was a great privilege to have known Carrie,” a statement continued. “She was a beautiful soul, inspiring, and above all, kind. She will be greatly missed."
Fleming, who trained in theatre in British Columbia, was best known for her role in Eric Kripke’s long-running US drama Supernatural, in which she played Karen Singer in three episodes from 2006 to 2011.
Karen was the wife of character Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver), a close friend of the Winchest brothers, played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.
Beaver, whose wife Cecily died of cancer in 2024, paid tribute to Fleming, calling her his “soul mate“ and revealing that they “loved each other”, but distance kept them from having a relationship.
“To find a soul mate once in life is something of a miracle,” he wrote in a lengthy Facebook post. “To find one twice is almost unimaginable. To love and be loved is a pearl above price, but such pearls do come more than once or twice to the lucky.”
Beaver continued: “I lost Cecily to cancer in 2004. Thursday, I lost Carrie to the same disease. I never thought my heart could break so badly more than once. But it has. But, oh, the two torches I carry – what bright, bright light they shed.”

The Deadwood actor hailed Fleming “a powerhouse of vitality and goodwill and amazingly good nature” and praised her “rapturous laugh and utterly adorable personality that didn't seem to have an off switch”.
He continued: “We shot Supernatural in Canada, where she lived. I live in Southern California. The geographic and legal ramifications of those facts kept us both physically and matrimonially apart, though we remedied the first when we could and, I'm sure, at some point we would have remedied the latter if it had been possible.”
Beaver said they “loved each other as best we could”, adding: “There were others, for both of us, but always there was the bond we had started with. Had certain laws and maps been different, I'm not sure I would have been able to love anyone else. She got me like only one other person really, truly ever has.”
Fleming followed up her role in Supernatural with iZombie – and she also had roles in TV shows including Smallville, Supergirl, Stargate SG-1 and The 4400. Her film credits include 1995 comedy Happy Gilmore and Good Luck Chuck (2007).

She also played Candy Baker on five seasons of the CW's iZombie, a procedural following a Seattle Police medical examiner who helps solve murders after eating the victims' brains and temporarily absorbing their memories and personalities.
Fleming is survived by her daughter, Madelyn Rose.
