Carrickmines fire: Emergency services rush to scene of blaze near Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse in Dublin

Dublin Fire Brigade and gardai have raced to the scene of a huge fire at a retail unit in south Dublin.

The blaze broke out at around 5pm on Saturday in Carrickmines.

Witnesses have said "the whole shop is blazing" and pictures from the scene show smoke billowing across units close to Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse.

Another witness said traffic is being turned away from the scene, Dublin Live reports.

Three fire crews have rushed to the fire.

It appears the blaze initially started out as a car fire near a gas main.

A spokesman for DFB Brigade said: "Three fire engines are currently dealing with a fire in Carrickmines Retail Park.

"Firefighters were called to a vehicle fire which has affected a nearby gas main. Smoke is visible in the area and Gas Networks Ireland and gardai are on scene."

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fire in Carrickmines Retail Park. No injuries have been reported. Enquiries ongoing."

AA Roadwatch report that visibility may be affected in the area due to the smoke.

There were delays on Glenamuck Road approaching the Ballyogan Road junction in Carrickmines but it's believed traffic in the area is no longer affected.
