Carrickfergus Indian restaurant offers free meals for NHS workers

A Co Antrim Indian restaurant is offering free curries for hungry NHS workers.

Little India in Carrickfergus willl give away hot meals until Saturday evening between 5 and 9pm to staff with ID.

Owner Bal Thapa said it was his wife's idea to help the health service as its battles Covid-19.

He said: "She said ‘NHS people are working very hard at this moment, so why are you not helping the NHS people?

"They are working very hard, and if you help at this moment, you can go to the hospital and they will help you - that’s life."

Workers just need to phone ahead with their order, and have ID.

Little India will give them a curry of their choice, naan and rice for free.

Mr Thapa said: "When they are coming back from their work, at least they can get hot food, they don’t have to cook - we know they are very tired."
