Carpool Karaoke star James Corden confesses he was banned from the road

Carpool Karaoke star James Corden has confessed he once had a driving ban for speeding.

James, 42 – famous for driving A-list celebrities around for a sketch on his US chat show – revealed he was caught doing more than 100mph.

He said: “I have only ever been in one [courtroom] – when I got banned from driving. It must have been 15 or 20 years ago, I got pulled over for speeding and I represented myself in court because I went to see a lawyer and he was like, ‘Dude, you can pay me, but you’re getting banned.

"No one can get you off this’.”

Confessing on The Late Late Show, he added: “And I was like, ‘All right, I’ll represent myself in court’.”

And he joked: “I wore the wig, the whole thing...”

The Carpool Karaoke segment from James' late night US show, which sees him drive around LA with a music star as they belt out their biggest hits, was shelved during the coronavirus pandemic due to social-distancing rules.

But the host hopes it can be back on television in late summer or early autumn.

Meanwhile, James has teased Gavin and Stacey fans by telling them there could be another special after the 2019 Christmas episode was left on a cliffhanger.

Fans are dying to know what happened next after Ruth Jones' character Nessa proposed to James' character Smithy.

When he was asked during an appearance on This Morning if Smithy said yes, he confessed: "I honestly don’t know the answer. I’m just as excited to find out as you are. I don’t know, I have no idea."

And when asked if we could see more episodes, James said: "Really it’s just about finding the time to do it and finding out if it’s good enough.

"Nobody wants a last episode that doesn’t deliver, so we’ve just got to let the tank fill up again really.

"I hope so much that we get to do one, I think it would be strange to leave it where we left it."
