Tis’ the season to be jolly and Perth Amateur Operatic Society (PAOS) aim to do that with a selection of carolling events.
The group perform at various venues in the lead up to Christmas, including in Horsecross Plaza, Perth on Saturday 11 at 1pm-2pm and at the Shore Road marketplace, The Yard, on Sunday 12, also at 1pm-2pm.
President Anna Jellye said: “I am delighted that we’re able to spread some festive joy with appearances at Horsecross Plaza (December 11), The Yard (December 12), Louisebrae Care Home (Dec 18) and at ASDA Perth, 1pm-2pm on December 19.
“It really does lift spirits and we love performing.”
After the festive break, rehearsals will be back in full swing for their production of ‘The Wedding Singer’ at Perth Theatre in April. Tickets are already on sale on the Horsecross website.
Meanwhile on Sunday 12, St Ninian’s Cathedral in Perth is to be host to Perth’s chamber choir Chansons .
The singing group will perform ‘Radiant Dawn - music of hope on our way to Christmas’ at 7.30pm on December 12.
It will be a chance to enjoy some familiar music and some that may be new to listeners.
This year’s charity concert supports PKAVS work with minority communities in Perth.
Tickets cost £15 for adults, youth concessions are £5.
Chansons continued rehearsals on-line as best they could during lockdown, but members report the “thrill” to get back to singing together in the autumn.
“We rehearsed at first outdoors, then eventually indoors, taking great care to keep each other safe. It is amazing to be back in that wonderful sound,” said a spokesperson.
Sunday will be the group’s first sight of a live audience in 2021.
The concert is in aid of local Perth charity PKAVS.
The programme will include music through the ages by Victoria, Monteverdi, Bach, Faure, Elgar, Poulenc, Britten, Macmillan and Gjeilo.
The concert will be led and conducted by musical director, Areti Lymperopoulou with Howard Duthie, organ.
Tickets available online from chansons.co.uk, by emailing chansons.perth@gmail.com or purchased on the door.

Analogue photography - the opposite of push-button digital - is getting a shout out in Aberfeldy on Saturday, December 11.
There’s a free talk by two analogue photography enthusiasts at Glen Lyon Coffee Roastery at 4pm given by founder members of the Silver Alchemy Collective, Jamie Grant and Dave Hunt.

Both are dedicated to celebrating the craft of ‘slow’ photography.
Dave Hunt works in a variety of traditional and vintage photographic processes, including wet plate, collodion and tin type.
Jamie Grant will give a talk on his latest book project shot entirely on a medium format film camera.
Visitors can bring any old cameras that they own along as Jamie and Dave would be delighted to look them over and encourage anyone interested in photography to take up the art of analogue image making.
