Caroline Flack writes a public message to Laura Whitmore ahead of Love Island launch show

After months of waiting, tonight Love Island will finally return to our screens, and some big changes will be in play.

Not only will the villa be in South Africa instead of Spain this time round, but Laura Whitmore will also be hosting the show for the first time, as she steps in to replace Caroline Flack.

Caroline was dropped from the show when news arose that she had been charged with assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton. The TV star has denied the charge and is due to face trial in March.

Shortly after, ITV bosses revealed that she would be replaced by Laura Whitmore, and Caroline has remained silent since.

Posting on her Instagram account on Christmas Eve, Caroline revealed that she had decided to take a break from social media, explaining: "Been advised not to go on social media ... but I wanted to say happy Christmas to everyone who has been so incredibly kind to me this year..... this kind of scrutiny and speculation is a lot to take on for one person to take on their own...

"I’m a human being at the end of the day and I’m not going to be silenced when I have a story to tell and a life to keep going with ....

"I’m taking some time out to get feeling better and learn some lessons from situations I’ve got myself into. I have nothing but love to give and best wishes for everyone."

And now, for the first time since that post was shared, the 40-year-old has spoken out.

Caroline shared a good luck message on her story (Instagram)

Posting on her Instagram story, she said: "Massive good luck to Laura, Iain and the team for tonight’s launch show… the first one always the best one. Caroline x."

Caroline will appear in court for her trial in March after pleading not guilty to assault.
