Caroline Flack says she is going through 'the worst time of my life' on eve of court appearance

Caroline Flack said she is going through "the worst time of my life' in an emotional Instagram post on the eve of her court appearance.

The Love Island presenter was charged with assault earlier this month following a private domestic incident reportedly involving her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

She is expected to appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The 40-year-old, who has stepped down as host of the upcoming winter series of the ITV2 dating show, shared the post on Sunday evening.

She was charged with assault allegedly involved her boyfriend Lewis Burton last week.

She wrote: "This is the worst time of my life.

"I don't kno where to go to. Where to look. Who to trust.

"Or who I even am."

Flack was arrested in Islington, north London, on December 12 following reports of a man being assaulted.

Police did not name the man, but they said he was not seriously injured.

Burton, 27, later spoke out in defence of Flack, saying she had become the subject of a "witch hunt" following her arrest.

It is not clear whether he will accompany her to court.

Irish TV presenter Laura Whitmore will take over hosting Love Island and companion show Aftersun when filming commences in South Africa in January.

Flack will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on December 23.
