Caroline Flack’s mum says her daughter ‘so wanted to have her little voice heard’

Caroline Flack’s mum has spoken out following the Love Island star’s death.

Christine Flack opened up ahead of the TV presenter’s inquest, which takes place today.

She hit out saying “so many untruths were out there” about her daughter, who was found dead at her east London home on Saturday.

A lawyer for Caroline's family said she'd taken her own life after she had been "under huge pressure".

Christine echoed this in her comments to the Eastern Daily Press as she revealed an unpublished Instagram post where Caroline said she "took responsibility for what happened that night" but said it had been an accident and she "was NOT a domestic abuser."

Caroline was due to stand trial next month after it was alleged that she assaulted her boyfriend Lewis Burton 27, at her flat in Islington, north London. She denied the charges.

Mrs Flack said of the Instagram post: "Carrie sent me this message at the end of January but was told not to post it by advisers but she so wanted to have her little voice heard.

"So many untruths were out there but this is how she felt and my family and I would like people to read her own words.

"Carrie was surrounded by love and friends but this was just too much for her.

"Her friends Molly, Lou, Sam, Liam and Simon need a very special mention and lots of thanks for trying so hard to keep her safe."

Mrs Flack added: "Jody her twin sister was there her whole life for her but this time nothing could take away the hurt of such injustice.

"As Carrie would say: 'In a nasty world, just be kind.'"

Mrs Flack told the newspaper that Caroline had texted her on Friday after the CPS decision to pursue the court case, saying that friends had been with her later in the day.

She also said that she was due to visit Caroline with her sister Jody on Saturday.

Mrs Flack added that Caroline’s Instagram post was “not blaming anyone or pointing any fingers”.

She said: "It was describing how she was feeling and what she had gone through - no more than that. It was not blaming anyone or pointing any fingers.

"We want people to read it and want it to be shared through the EDP who we really trust and always have done."

Caroline had stepped down from her Love Island post for the ITV programme’s first winter series, with Laura Whitmore taking the position.

The show cancelled Sunday night’s episode and paid tribute to Caroline the following evening, with narrator Iain Stirling saying he and the rest of the people who she worked with were “absolutely devastated” by her passing.
