Caroline Flack's death kept secret from Love Island stars isolated in South Africa villa

Caroline Flack's death has remained a secret from the Love Island stars.

Love Island was cancelled over the weekend out of respect to Caroline's family after the host took her own life in her London flat the day after Valentine's Day.

As it stands, Love Island will make a comeback to UK television on Monday.

It's just three weeks until Flack was due in court over allegations she assaulted her boyfriend Lewis Burton by beating in an alleged early-morning row in December.

Flack pleaded not guilty and her boyfriend begged for the CPS to drop the charges because he insisted his girlfriend was innocent.

However, the current contestants have been kept in the dark about Caroline's death and remain in the South African villa.

Sources let slip to MailOnline it was "business as usual" in the villa on Sunday as the reality stars haven't been notified of the tragedy by bosses.

Shockwaves were sent through the showbiz world when the news of Caroline's death hit headlines on Saturday.

ITV headquarters has descended into chaos amid crisis talks over whether the successful show should be axed in the wake of the news.

It is the third suicide to plague the show following the tragic deaths of Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon's deaths.

March 15 this year will mark the one year anniversary since Mike took his own life at the age of 26 after he struggled to cope with overnight fame.

Financial Times' Mark Di Stefano spilled ITV bosses were in lockdown discussing the future of Love Island.

He wrote on Twitter: "ITV execs and programme makers are meeting now to discuss how to respond to Caroline Flack's death.

"Told to expect more information this afternoon on tonight's episode of Love Island and the long-term."

The Mirror has approached ITV's representatives for further comment.
