Caroline Flack's boyfriend jokes she's taking a backseat after her Love Island exit

Caroline Flack's boyfriend Lewis Burton has joked that she was 'taking a back seat' in an Instagram post - after ITV revealed she is being replaced as Love Island host.

Laura Whitmore has been appointed as the new host of the show after the presenter, 40, stepped down following her arrest for assault last week.

The hunky tennis player, 27, shared a video on Instagram stories showing her at the back of a plane, and could be heard joking that she was sitting in seat 31C and was 'hanging off the wing.'

Irish telly personality Laura, 34, will also host the spin-off show Aftersun which airs on Sunday nights throughout the series.

Laura is the girlfriend of Iain Stirling who is best known for his funny voice over on Love Island.

In the video the former tennis star could be heard joking that she was sitting in seat 31C an airplane, and was 'hanging off the wing' (Instagram)

Born in Dublin, Ireland, model Laura has been a presenter for more than a decade now.

On Instagram, Caroline Laura gave her support for the star and admitted she's still going through 'a really rough time' after stepping down as Love Island.

Caroline also said Iain and Laura will be good together on the show.

"Thank you for your continuous messages of support... it's a really rough time... but I'm doing all I can to keep my head above water and sort this all out..."

The former Love Island host thanked her co-star Iain for his support with a loving gesture.

She wrote: "I love you, thank you Iain. Good to have you and your lady together."

Six police cars were pictured outside Caroline's home after an alleged bust-up at the home she shares with her boyfriend last Friday 13 December.

She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates' court on Monday 23 December.
