Caroline Flack quits as Love Island host after assault charge

Caroline Flack has quit as host of Love Island series six following an assault charge.

The 40-year-old presenter was due to present the sixth series of the hit ITV2 show in January for the first ever winter version.

The news comes following her assault charge last week, and Caroline is said to be 'absolutely devastated' by the decision.

Caroline posted on her Instagram stories: "Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. In order to not detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series six.

"I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town."

It comes after Caroline was arrested at her London home in the early hours of Friday morning accused of attacking her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

Officers arrested the TV presenter and later charged her with assault by beating.

Caroline is due to appear in court on December 23.

The winter series of Love Island is due to start in January in South Africa.
