With just hours to go before the official launch of Love Island 2019 , host Caroline Flack has revealed that the series could see the first threesome.
The ITV2 series returns tonight with 12 new singletons hoping to find love in the villa.
While the first two editions of the dating show regularly showed contestants getting busy in the bedroom, sex scenes have become less a feature in recent years.
According to host Caroline, the scenes are not 'necessary' to the success of the show.
She said: "You don't need it unless it's part of the storyline.
"It becomes a bit unnecessary to just see people s***ging. We're so much more than that and that's what people really enjoy."
But Caroline said she's still hoping the contestants will ramp the x-rated behaviour up a gear and believes the new look Hideaway could provide the perfect inspiration.
She told The Sun: "We haven't had a threesome [on the show]. We don't usually let three people in The Hideaway - there's usually only two. Maybe this year we can."
This year a hot tub has been added to the private quarters to make the getaway even more romantic.
"Hot tubs with two people are sexy. Hot tubs with six are dirty," said presenter Caroline, 39.
Show bosses decided to move the hot tub from the garden into the private love shack in the hope that it will get more use - and encourage the couples to get frisky.
Producer Richard Cowles said: “The hot tub barely got used when it was in the garden and when it was usually four or five people were in there which isn’t very romantic.
"It was never private. As we always seem to get more action in the hideaway because it’s secluded our feeling was that it would be better to move the tub there as we are likely to see romance."
But despite high hopes for on-screen romance, three of this year's stars have already ruled out they'll get frisky on the TV show.
Anton Danyluk, Amber Gill and Curtis Pritchard have all vowed not to have sex during their time on the show.
Their vow comes after last year's winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham also decided against romping in the villa and went on to victory.
