Caroline Flack police investigation dropped after watchdog rules there is no case to answer

A watchdog has decided there is no need to investigate police contact with Caroline Flack before her death.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct said there was "no indication of a causal link - directly or indirectly - between the actions or omissions of the police and Caroline Flack's tragic death".

Metropolitan Police officers last had contact with the 40-year-old television presenter on December 13, 2019 when she was in custody following an alleged assault.

She died after taking her own life last month.

"Latest on  #CarolineFlack  : Independent Office for Police Conduct says it won't investigate "because there was no indication of a causal link - directly or indirectly - between the actions or omissions of the police and Caroline Flack’s tragic death," tweeted Home Affairs Correspondent for BBC News Danny Shaw.

"IOPC says Met Police "last had contact with Ms Flack on 13 December 2019, when she was in custody, nearly two months before her death." It'll be up to Met Police to decide if it needs to do its own investigation and what, if any, action to take.  #CarolineFlack

"Crown Prosecution Service is conducting its own internal review of how it handled the  #CarolineFlack  case and the decision to bring charges. This is not unusual in such cases."
