The cast of Love Island have paid tribute to the late presenter Caroline Flack on the one-year anniversary of her death.

The TV host died by suicide on 15 February 2020, aged 40. A coroner ruled that Flack had experienced “fluctuating ill health” and had also been “distressed” over the trial she faced for the alleged assault of her boyfriend, Lewis Burton.

On Monday (15 February), a post from the official Love Island account was shared reading: “Remembering Caroline 1979 – 2020. Always in our hearts.”

Laura Whitmore, who stepped in to present Love Island after Flack took a break during the show’s sixth series, shared a quote to Instagram reading “you’ve to laugh a little, cry a little, until the clouds roll by a little” alongside a photo of herself and the presenter.

Whitmore’s fiancé Iain Stirling, who provides the show’s voiceover, also paid tribute to Flack, writing: “To my friend Caroline, thinking of you today. Miss you mate.”

Series five winner Amber Gill was among the contestants to honour Flack, resharing a picture of herself and the presenter on her Instagram Story. “My heart still breaks”, she captioned the post.

“Forever in our hearts,” her co-star Yewande Biala also posted, while Maura Higgins shared a picture of Flack with a dove emoji.

“Can’t believe it’s been a year,” Michael Griffiths wrote. “Rest easy angel.”
