Caroline Flack inquest opening told she was 'found hanging'

Caroline Flack was found hanging, the opening of an inquest into her death heard today.

Coroner's officer Sandra Polson told the hearing at Poplar Coroner’s Court in east London that police officers had been flagged down on Northwold Road in Stoke Newington on the night of Saturday February 15.

The officers found former Love Island presenter Ms Flack, 40, lying on her back and attempted resuscitation, which was then continued by paramedics, the inquest heard.

She was later pronounced dead at the scene and her body was identified by her sister Jody Flack.

The provisional cause of death was given as suspension by ligature, the inquest was told.

No members of Ms Flack’s family were present at today's hearing, which lasted just four minutes.

The inquest was adjourned until August 5.

This morning, Ms Flack's family released a statement that she had written before her death - but had been told not to post to Instagram by her advisors.

She had been charged with assault by beating after an alleged domestic incident with her boyfriend Lewis Burton and was due to go on trial in March.

In the statement, Ms Flack insisted she was not a domestic abuser and said her 'whole world and future was swept from under her feet'.

Her mum Chris shared the message in her local paper in Norfolk where Flack grew up and said her family 'want people to read it'.

Following the alleged assault, Ms Flack stepped down from the presenting the current winter series of Love Island.

The dating show did not air on Saturday or Sunday as a mark of respect to her family and returned on Monday with a tribute to Ms Flack, who started hosting the programme in 2015.
