Caroline Flack has been found dead at the age of 40.
The TV star's body is believed to have been discovered at her North London home.
Fans of the popular celebrity have taken to social media in huge numbers to pay tribute to the 40-year-old.
Her family confirmed the tragic news in a statement released on Saturday night.
They said: "We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.
"We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time."
ITV released a statement which said: "Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news.
"Caroline was a much loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends."
Ms Flack was one of the country's best-known TV presenters, with her roles including hosting the hugely popular ITV2 show Love Island. The episode scheduled for Saturday night was cancelled, a few hours after the news broke, was cancelled.
But she stepped down from the show before the beginning of its winter series last month over an alleged attack on her boyfriend Lewis Burton.
She was charged with assault by beating of the 27-year-old, an accusation she had denied when she appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court just before Christmas.
Mr Burton had previously spoken out in support of Ms Flack, claiming she has become the subject of a "witch hunt" following her arrest at her flat in Islington, north London, on December 12.
She was due to stand trial in March.

Ms Flack stepped down from her Love Island role while proceedings continued.
She had been active on social media in recent days, taking to Instagram on Thursday to share images with her French Bulldog puppy.
News of her death sparked emotional tributes online, with a host of colleagues, friends and celebrities mourning her death.
Among them was TV personality Nadia Essex tweeted: "She’s gone... #ripcarolineflack"
Former Dancing on Ice winner Jake Quickenden posted: "I am so shocked to hear the news about Caroline Flack... my heart goes out to her family and friends at this moment!!"
Eamonn Holmes added: "Caroline Flack .... Dear God. Shocked beyond belief. May she have found peace . #Rip Has to be repercussions for Love Island now surely ?"
Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan wrote: "Poor Caroline flack she did not deserve this!!"
Ms Flack's television career began back in 2001 when she appeared in TV movie 'Is Harry on the Boat?'
But she shot to prominence with presenting roles, working on programmes including Fame Academy, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and its spin-off, Britain's Got More Talent and The X Factor.
And it was Love Island that brought her the most fame.
She hosted the hit ITV2 dating show and its spin-off Aftersun from 2015 until her decision to step down in 2019.
Ms Flack took to Instagram to wish her replacement, Laura Whitmore - and show voiceover comedian Iain Stirling, good luck for the upcoming series.
She said: "Massive good luck to Laura, Iain and the team for tonight's launch show..."
