Caroline Flack facing 'worst time' of her life after quitting Love Island over assault charge

Caroline Flack has opened up about this being the “worst” time of her life ahead of her court appearance on Monday on suspicion of assault.

On Thursday 12 December, the former Love Islandpresenter was arrested after an altercation that was believed to involve her boyfriend Lewis Burton at their shared home in Islington.

Last week, it was revealed that Laura Whitmore would replace Flack as the presenter of the winter version of Love Island, which will air on ITV2 in January.

Flack responded to the news on Instagram, expressing support for Whitmore while admitting that she was having “a really rough time”.

The TV presenter elaborated in an Instagram Story on Sunday, telling fans: “This is the worst time of my life. I don’t know where to go to. Where to look. Who to trust. Or who I even am.”

Flack announced she would be stepping down from her Love Island hosting duties last week.

In a statement, the 27-year-old said: “There have been a significant number of media reports and allegations in regards to my personal life.

“While matters were not as have been reported, I am committed to co-operating with the appropriate authorities and I can’t comment further on these matters until the legal process is over.”

Flack went on to say that Love Island has been her “world” for the last five years and described it as “the best show on telly”.

“In order to not detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series six. I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town.”
