Caroline Flack breaks silence on Love Island launch day to wish Laura Whitmore luck

Caroline Flack has broken her social media silence just hours before the launch of Winter Love Island.

The TV presenter, 40, took to her Instagram stories on Sunday afternoon to wish Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling luck for the start of the new series.

She stepped down from the show last month after she was charged with assault by beating following an alleged attack on her boyfriend Lewis Burton, 27.

But it seemed that Caroline was still excited to see the show go on without her tonight as she called the first episode of a new series "the best one".

She wrote: "Massive good luck to Laura, Iain and the team for tonight's launch show...

"The first one always the best one. Caroline x."

Shortly afterwards Laura reposted the picture on her own Instagram stories, writing: "Thank you! XXX."

Producers have suggested that the door is always open for Caroline to return to the show.

Show runner Amanda Stavri says bosses are in "constant contact" with Caroline, who is taking time out in LA.

Speaking at the new villa, commissioning editor Amanda said: "We are continuing to talk to Caroline. We are in constant contact and the door is open."

Caroline is alleged to have assaulted her boyfriend Lewis in an early-morning attack at her North London home.

Police officers attending the scene at the time described what they found as something like a scene in a "horror movie".

Caroline pleaded not guilty when she appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court last month.

She will face trial in March.
