Carol Vorderman targets Rishi Sunak and Michelle Mone on Twitter after This Morning rant

Carol Vorderman has doubled down on her TV tirade against Michelle Mone - and launched another furious attack on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The TV personality stunned viewers of ITV's This Morning breakfast show yesterday (January 27) when she ranted against embattled lingerie tycoon Mone, who is being being investigated by the National Crime Agency and House of Lords over claims she failed to declare an interest when lobbying for PPE Medpro during the Covid pandemic.

She followed that up by demanding that the Prime Minister be investigated for insider trading and calling for more "accountability and transparency" from the government.

Carol Vorderman's outspoken comments about Baroness Mone and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak sparked a huge reaction (This Morning)

Reaction to her claims saw some viewers petitioning for Voderman to be given a permanent slot on the show hosted by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. And as her allegations continued throughout the day, so Vorderman doubled down on the claims she made that Government Covid contracts funded the lifestyle of Michelle Mone's husband and that the Prime Minister's family finances should be subjected to investigation.

Baroness Mone is being investigated over claims she failed to declare an interest when lobbying for PPE Medpro to supply personal protection equipment to the Government and NHS for £203million. The peer, who denies claims that she and her children pocketed £29million from the deals, has taken a break from the Lords to defend herself while the Government sues PPE Medpro for supplying 25 million 'unusable' surgical gowns.

In a string of tweets, Vorderman continued to attack Mone. One said: "For some reason or other I feel obliged to reshare this article… noting that after PPE firm linked to them received VIP lane contract MM/Husband/firm bought a jet & a boat & £3m in property for her children."

She wrote in another: "Barrowman [husband] will be on trial in Spain in May for criminal fraud. Last yr police raided their homes & offices, charges pending? It's claimed that B & Mone illegally benefited from upwards of £58m from PPE Medpro through trusts. You get the gist..."

She also turned on Sunak, posting a Guardian article that alleged, when Chancellor of the Exchequer, his hedge fund invested heavily in the drug company Moderna, whose Covid vaccine was purchased in large quantities by the Government at the time. Posting the article, she tweeted: "So Prime Minister, will you say if you hold stock/shares via your hedge fund or in any other means in MODERNA?"

She also raised the issue of Sunak's controversial family finances, tweeting: "Sunak father-in-law owns most of Indian company Infosys which has received £50 million in UK government contracts. His wife claimed non-dom tax status on her dividends while he was Chancellor."

And she retweeted a quote from Alison Phillips from the BBC programme Question in which she said of the current Nadhim Zahawi tax scandal: "There is one rule for rich Tories that are governing us, and one rule for the rest of us." Voderman added: "Remember SUNAK is not innocent in all this. His wife actively (& legally) chose to avoid £20m in tax by choosing non-dom status, it hasn't been paid back."

The reaction to Vorderman's appearance on This Morning was swift. @Paddy1094 tweeted: "Yes!! Carol. @carolvorders telling it straight #ThisMorning. Let her host this show. She'd be brilliant."

Others begged for her to apply for a role within the government itself after holding it to account. @joblogg41360819 said: "Put carol vorderman in the role of chancellor if Martin Lewis won’t do it."
