The star recently got incredibly emotional when she appeared on Good Morning Britain with a surprise for Captain Tom Moore.

Alongside hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Carol announced to Tom via video chat that he was receiving a Pride of Britain award.

The 99-year-old army veteran raised more than £32million for NHS Charities Together by walking 100 laps of his garden in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire, before his 100th birthday on April 30.

Carol complimented Tom's "fantastic Yorkshire smile", before revealing he had hundreds of thousands of nominations for him to win a Pride Of Britain Award.

She went on to talk about the Pride of Britain Awards, which go to "extraordinary people, to children with tremendous courage, and many members of our emergency services, and also I know this is dear to your heart, to the armed services.

The army, navy, Royal Air Force, Battle Of Britain pilots."

Appearing emotional, Carol said: "You, Captain Tom, embody all of that. You kindness, your modesty, your utter determination, and your selflessness.

"You're raising a ridiculous amount of money, and you keep saying this is not for you, but it is for those who you regard as heroes.

Overjoyed, Tom said: "I'm in totally in awe of this award, it's such a prestigious one, and thank you to everyone who voted."
