Carol Vorderman speaks out on love life, her 'superpower' and living 'without apology'

Carol Vorderman says her life goal is to "be happy, not to be in love" and says she has "nothing to apologise for". Carol, who lives in Clifton, opened up on her personal life in an interview with You magazine.

The former Countdown genius has made the headlines in recent weeks and months, from recently saying "there's a special place in hell" for Dominic Raab, to opening up on her dating life.

Carol, 62, admitted she had always kept her opinions to herself but "has been so angered by the lack of freedom of speech" she now has people stopping her in the street thanking her for expressing her thoughts.

Her new attitude she says comes "from being slagged off for 40 years". Speaking to You magazine, she added: "When you've had false headlines written about you, helicopters over your house, your kids followed by paparazzi, and every part of your life – my body, my face, my hair, my sweaty armpits, my cellulite – has had abuse flung at it over a very long period of time, one of two things happens.

"You either go under, which I will never do. Or it gives you a superpower. You think, 'Well, you [her critics] haven't got anything more in your bloody locker, have you?' I've got nothing to apologise for so I live without apology."

Carol has previously opened up on her dating life. Earlier this year she revealed she had five partners or "special friends" as she refers them as. She admitted he is continuing that "system" and said it has been working "very well".

The TV personality added that one of them has been a friend for 11 years and other seven, and that her children know "most of them". Carol said all of them are single and she works on the principle she is doing "no harm".

Embracing her life, Carol added that her goal of her life is to "be happy, not to be in love" adding she "just finds people interesting and life interesting".

Carol shared parts of her interview on Twitter today (Sunday), and tweeted: "'The Carol Conundrum' brunette-wigged cover of YOU Magazine this morning!! Summary: "I have nothing to apologise for" "The goal of my life is to be happy, not to be 'in love'." Basically I'm a thick skinned little bugger who had a hard start & loves life, people, gym & laughing."
