Carol Vorderman slams Jeremy Clarkson as takes aim at her and 'has a go at a woman again'

Carol Vorderman has hit out at Jeremy Clarkson for having a "go at a woman again" after he was ridiculed for his vile Meghan Markle rant.

The star was supported by Loose Women panelist Denise Welch on Twitter this morning, as she called out the controversial TV presenter over his latest newspaper rant.

In his recent column, Jeremy took aim at former Countdown star Carol, who he branded "awfully shouty" and titled the piece: "Me thinks Carol doth protest too much."

The former Top Gear host said that Carol has reinvented herself as a "anti-Tory, anti-sleeze warrior".

Carol spoke about the needs of menopausal women during a meeting of the Women and Equalities Select Committee, and was highly critical of the Minister for Women’s Health, Maria Caulfield.

In his Sun on Sunday column, he wrote: "“In recent weeks, Carol Vorderman seems to have re-invented herself as a sort of anti-Tory, anti-sleeze warrior”

He continued: “Having not got her way in a debate about the menopause this week, she said she had been ‘absolutely disgusted’ by the attitude of two lady MPs.

"That’s a bit strong, because if you’re “absolutely disgusted” by someone who disagrees with you about the menopause, then how do you describe your feelings towards a Russian soldier who’s just lobbed a hand grenade into a school?

"Surely, that would be ‘absolutely disgusting. Whereas someone who doesn’t share your view in a debate is mildly irritating," he added.

Carol took to Twitter to call Jeremy out, writing: "Well well. The known defender of women’s rights, Jeremy Clarkson, has a go at a woman again.

"Jeremy love, if I am disgusted at MPs fibbing & not turning up as they are meant to do, then I’ll be ‘disgusted’.

“Glad you used a nice photo tho or I might have been ‘mildly irritated’," she added.

Fans and famous friends of Carol's loved the Celebrity Gogglebox star's comeback this morning, with Denise Welch replying: "What an absolute tool he is."

Carol jokingly replied: "which tool tho Dens? An Old Hack-Saw?"

Jeremy came under fire after he wrote about his hatred for Meghan Markle in a now-deleted column for The Sun last year.

In his since removed column, he said that he dreamed of the day that Meghan was "made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain".

He said that he wanted the crowds to "throw lumps of excrement at her", which he said was a clumsy Game of Thrones reference.

The presenter, 62, also said that "everyone who's my age thinks the same way", but Carol disagreed.

"NO Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it ok to write this stuff about any woman & absolutely NO to 'everyone who's my age thinks the same' No no no. We absolutely do NOT think the same. Listen to the noise Jeremy. The crowds are chanting 'shame on YOU'."

In his statement shared to his Instagram account in January, Clarkson said he "really is sorry" for what he said in the controversial column - all the way "from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head".

He went on to say his bosses at ITV show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and and Amazon, who make the Farm Show and the Grand Tour, were "incandescent" after his decision to share his disturbing thoughts with the public.

Meghan and Harry issued a response to Clarkson's claims he emailed both of them on Christmas Day - saying TV presenter only addressed his apology to Harry.

A joint statement issued on behalf of the couple reads: "On December 25, 2022, Mr. Clarkson wrote solely to Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex.

"While a new public apology has been issued today by Mr. Clarkson, what remained to be addressed is his long standing pattern of writing articles that spread ate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny."
