Carol Vorderman sends Twitter into frenzy calling out Jeremy Clarkson for 'shameful' comments on Meghan Markle

Carole Vorderman has condemned Jeremy Clarkson's comments about Meghan Markle in a national newspaper. In an op-ed for The Sun, the former Top Gear presenter wrote that he "hated" the Duchess of Sussex.

"At night, I am unable to sleep as I lie there grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, "Shame!" and throw lumps of excrement at her," the article read.

The 62-year-old suggested that everyone who's his age "thinks the same way", which Carole, 61, quickly refuted. The Bristol-based former Countdown presenter tweeted her frustrations to her hundreds of thousands of followers.

Carole said: "NO Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it ok to write this stuff about any woman & absolutely NO to "everyone who's my age thinks the same" No no no. We absolutely do NOT think the same. Listen to the noise Jeremy. The crowds are chanting "shame on YOU. "

Her tweet has gone viral, with many people in agreement with her. TV presenter Emily Attack said she was "horrified" while comedian Dom Jolly said he was "literally gobsmacked at the utterly vile and disgusting comments written about Meghan Markle by Jeremy Clarkson in the Sun". Replying to Vorderman, @order_ones said: "This is bullying on its highest level, and he and Piers Morgan attended Camilla and Charles’ recent party. Shameful!!!"

@roryflowers added: "That should be a career ending paragraph for any journalist, but in the current state of the press it probably won't."

@AmandaK84451593 commented: "Why is this man still on the TV ? I am shocked he has written this and got away with it. Surely this is hate crime against women in general and against Megan as an individual? It’s just so unacceptable and yet nothing is done. As you say Carol “shame on Jeremy”."

Not everyone sided with Carol's views, however. @ChelseaCes said: "Never heard of satire? Would love to hear your take on Swift's "A Modest Proposal"."

@Ericthe08378950 added: "Give over. Clarkson is a clever funny columnist. If you don’t get his humour don’t read it."

On Thursday (December 15), Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released the second volume of their tell-all Netflix series. Harry & Meghan offers an in-depth look into their private life and their separation from the royal family.

Earlier this week, the famously brainy Carol appeared to take a dig at Prince Harry's intelligence while appearing on This Morning earlier on December 9 where she was interviewed about the new series.
