Proud mum Carol Vorderman admits she and her daughter are “space geeks” – as the pair present together for the first time on TV.
Katie, 28, is finishing her PhD in nanotechnology at Cambridge University and “loves her science”, according to her mother.
Research scientist Katie worked in the labs at NASA on the Mars Curiosity Rover and has an ambition to become an astronaut.
Last night the pair appeared on BBC1’s The One Show.
For the programme they travelled to the US. Posting pictures of their trip, Carol, 58, declared: “We are space geeks at Johnson Space Centre Houston.”
The snaps show Katie posing in her white coat with goggles and gloves.
Former Countdown star Carol, who has a degree in engineering from Cambridge, admitted Katie makes her a “proud mum”.
