Carol Vorderman says she’s ‘allergic to wedding rings’ as she asks fans for help

I'm A Celebrity... South Africa and former Countdown star Carol Vorderman has appealed to fans asking for their help over what sentimental possession she should sent up into space as she reveals a close friend, who is the Chief Astronaut for Axiom Space, is making a trip to the International Space Station.

Taking to Instagram to ask her followers for ideas over what she should take up to space - joining a picture of her in a bikini placed in the ISS "with earth behind" - the 62-year-old Welsh media personality, who came fifth on this year's 20th anniversary special of I'm A Celeb, wrote alongside a picture of said bikini shot: "In 2010 a friend of mine from NASA was so kind on his trip to the International Space Station and took up a few trinkets for my family including this photo of me.

"He took a photo of the photo in the ISS with earth behind and I treasure it. It means 'I've sunbathed in space'. Ha. Cut to 2023 and a beloved astronaut friend of mine (formerly NASA and legendary) is now the Chief Astronaut for Axiom Space.

"I'm off to see his launch scheduled for November. So he's said he'll take something up to the ISS for me this time. I've decided to choose a ring…

"The problem is I don't have one!!! As you know I'm allergic to wedding rings and useless at choosing things, so can you help? Send me some ideas in the comments and tell me where they're from, I’ll take a look… very exciting. And thank you. From Missus Useless and yet Lucky"

Soon after Carol, who has been open about her romantic relationships in the past, posted this, fans rushed to her comments to share their suggestions and thoughts on such an idea - with many stating how amazing she looks in the picture already floating among the planets.

Pal Julia Bradbury wrote: "Only you" followed by a love heart and crying laughing face emoji.

Instagram user @rachel_davies84 added: "Tell him it'll have to be an engagement ring, how cool would a proposal from space be".

Another @mjgibson69, suggested: "a loved ones ashes made into a diamond and then set it in the ring then u can say they have been in space."
