Carol Vorderman says she has 'just one rule' with her 'five special friends' during This Morning appearance

Carol Vorderman discussed her 'five special friends' as she appeared on This Morning today, January 23. The Clifton resident, 62, has said that there are no secrets between her and her 'special friends', as all of them know about the others.

Countdown legend Carol has been divorced from her ex-husband Patrick King, with whom she had two children, since 2000. Today, she confessed that she has 'no plans' to settle down.

Carol told regular This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "They do know about each other now. We all have to be on the same page.

"They have their lives and I don't need to know about that. It was interesting I talked about it [multiple partners] off the cuff but the reaction was almost all positive."

Carol confessed that she wanted 'to get married and have children' when she was in her twenties, but things change. She said: "In my sixties, I have a full life and I live with my children.

"I don't want to settle with anybody, I love my job, the business of education, a busy home. People don't want just one partner, we're all single. There's one rule, 'do no harm'."

Reflecting on how things used to be, Cambridge alumnus Carol added: "Societies rules were very different and if a woman had a child without being married it was awful. I went to Cambridge at 17 and my mum sat me down and told me I need to think about settling down to get married.

"I think age 50+, you have to think: do you want another man to live with you, or do you want the nice bits?"

Carol told Holly and Phil that she 'doesn't need to know' about the personal lives of her partners, and isn't even sure whether they have their own friends. She said that she was talking about her relationships as there had been 'such a reaction to it' and wanted to break the stigma of having more than one partner as 'a lot of people are shamed by society'.
