Carol Vorderman says 'no political party has disgusted me more' after Partygate video

Carol Vorderman has blasted the Conservatives revealing ‘no political party has disgusted me more’ after a video emerged of covid rule breakers who'd been given honours partying.

The Mirror revealed on Saturday 17th June an exclusive bombshell video exposing for the first time how officials joked about their lockdown rule-bending Christmas bash at the Conservative Campaign Headquarters in London.

At least 24 revellers were there and, shockingly, they include two named on ex-PM Boris Johnson ’s controversial resignation honours list.

In the exclusive footage, two dancers even twirl past a sign saying “Please keep your distance”.

Sharing the Mirror’s article, Carol, 62, slammed the Tories with a damning statement declaring their actions have left her “disgusted”.

Retweeting to her 791,400 Twitter followers, she wrote: “December 14th 2020. Tories drink & dance at Covid rules in first ever Partygate video.

“Johnson has given honours to (soon to be Lord) Shaun Bailey and Ben Mallet both of whom were at this party.

“No govt or political party has ever disgusted me more.”

Former Countdown star Carol's followers were equally appalled.

One person replied: "Agree, speaking to people and still shocked. The video made it real and I hope the public can see through all the lies. This government is not fit for office and the PM@RishiSunak should be talking about this today, now!

"Instead no idea what he is doing. Embarrassing day for the UK government at home and the world stage."

Another user wrote: "I’m so angry, & upset for all the people reliving the pain they went through. So many tweets from distressed people who lost loved ones. Tories keep thinking this will go away, that people are easily manipulated by slogans & division, they don’t understand it will never go away."

"The police need to review all these cases. The ones they partially investigated and found ‘insufficient evidence’ despite the mountain of evidence. And they need to be stripped of all honours," demanded someone else.

It is the first time footage has emerged of one of the rule-breaking parties in Westminster. In the video, which shows a karaoke machine with flashing lights, partygoers joke about how they are breaking the rules.

When one man sees he is being recorded, he says: “Oh Christ.” Then another asks: “Are you filming this?” Someone else responds: “It’s for party, erm, party use.”

A man then laughs after declaring: “As long as we are not streaming that we’re, like, bending the rules.”

The party came just days after Mr Johnson announced even tighter restrictions which meant people in the areas worst hit by Covid could not see their loved ones over Christmas.

And the footage emerged after a dramatic week in which Partygate finally caught up with the ex-PM. In a damning report on Thursday, the Privileges Committee found he had repeatedly misled MPs over lockdown-busting gatherings.

It also accused him of being “complicit” in a “campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation” against the committee’s seven members.

Following the report, Carol vented her frustration over the Partygate political scandal and demanded a “ general election now” after Boris's lies were exposed.
