Carol Vorderman jokes about correct pronunciation of 'Hancock' as MP joins I'm A Celeb

Carol Vorderman joked we've been pronouncing Matt Hancock's surname incorrectly.

Before he entered the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, Carol made a little dig at the former Health Secretary.

Taking to her Instagram, Carol posted a clip of her in the back of a taxi as she made the joke.

She told her 276,000 followers that the 'Han' part of his surname is 'silent' when pronouncing it.

The former Countdown star explained: "Apparently, to say his name properly, the 'Han' is silent. Who knew?

"Matt -c**k. Matt -c**k. I think I've got it right."

Matt Hancock and Seann Walsh arrived in camp on Wednesday (ITV)

Fans of the 61-year old were quick to join in the fun as one joked: "I hope he’s made to eat lots of rancid Han-c***s in the jungle!"

Another added: "Fantastic... here's hoping he suffers in the jungle."

A third quipped: "Excellent pronunciation of his surname."

And a fourth commented: "Correct pronunciation is EVERYTHING! I'm sure Mr 'Hancock (HanC**K) will appreciate the thought!"

Speaking ahead of his appearance on the reality programme, Mr Hancock said on Wednesday: "I have never come across a snake at close quarters and so I am pretty worried about anything to do with snakes.

"I am not claustrophobic or at least I haven't been found to be but that's the thing about I'm A Celebrity – it is the unknown.

"I've watched the show over the years, I love how it gets down to the essence of people but it's really entertaining as well."

Addressing whether he thinks his colleagues in Parliament and the British public will be voting for him to do trials, he added: "I wouldn't be surprised if I end up doing some of the trials.

"I am hoping I can win some stars for the camp, but most of all I am looking forward to being myself."
