Carol Vorderman gives updates on 'life changing' operation

TV star Carol Vorderman has been given her social media followers updates on her recent surgery, and recovery from the treatment.

The former Countdown star underwent the operation earlier this week on her eye and took to Twitter soon afterwards to explain the procedure and how she was feeling.

Carol, who lives in North Somerset, said the operation only took ten minutes and went 'perfectly'.

The maths whizz is recuperating at a friend's house and shared a number of illustrations of the surgery - showing the incredible work of "pioneering eye surgeon" Professor Dan Reinstein.

In captions accompanying the photographs, Carol compared the cornea to a 1000 page book, with the procedure akin to cutting 150 pages out, reports North Wales Live.

"The flap is reflected to the side on a hinge, the ultraviolet laser then reshapes the exposed bed of the cornea," she explained.

The former I'm A Celebrity contestant also posted a number of selfies, including one this morning as the North Wales star continues to recover.

Carol, who received an initial check-up today, said everything had gone well so far.

The 58-year-old has since received an outpouring of support from fans.

"Wishing you a speedy recovery," posted one fan.

Another wrote "sending love and best wishes," whilst one told the Raf Ambassador to "keep smiling".

Others shared their own experiences of similar surgeries: "Congrats, I had it done years ago. It's life changing."

It's truly life-changing," wrote another, "hardest thing for me was having to go to work for a week without eye makeup".

The operation comes just days after the TV icon announced plans to reconnect with the Welsh language.

The 58-year-old confessed that she'd lost some of her Welsh speaking skills since leaving North Wales aged 17 to attend Cambridge University.
