Carol Smillie unveils unusual second job as she MARRIES her first couple

Carol Smillie has a unique second career - and she's absolutely loving it.

The former TV star has officially married her first couple after becoming a humanist celebrant.

Carol, who found fame on shows like Changing Rooms and Family Fortunes, was helped a happy couple say 'I do' for the first time less than a year after qualifying in her new role.

She qualified last May under her married name Carol Knight.

At first, she was only able to carry out funerals and naming ceremonies but has since trained to allow her to marry couples in Scotland.

The 57-year-old revealed on Twitter that she'd led her first wedding.

Sharing a picture of a discarded pair of tartan high heels, she said: "Married my first couple. The bride ditched her tartan heels halfway through the ceremony. Pretty cool day. #humanistcelebrant."

Humanist services are non-religious and have risen in popularity since they first gained legal recognition in 2005.

Speaking earlier about her change in career, Carol said: "Becoming a humanist celebrant is not necessarily about a big money-making adventure.

"People's lives are so complex and interesting. It is a bit of a privilege, really."
