Carol Kirkwood sparks concern as she suffers tumble live on BBC Breakfast during weather update

Carol Kirkwood sparked concern on BBC Breakfast as she suffered a tumble during her live weather broadcast. The presenter was back on the early morning BBC news programme on Tuesday (July 4) as she shared the latest weather updates via video link from Wimbledon.

BBC Breakfast hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were in the studio when they crossed over to Carol, 61, who was joined by a special guest. She was joined by security dog Ray who was receiving a lot of love and attention from the weatherwoman.

"Isn't he the most gorgeous boy," Carol cheerily shared. "This is Ray, he is going to be five in August and he is one of the search dogs here. Whilst we have been waiting for you to come to us, he has been sat there like a gentleman just looking ahead at his trainer and just being perfect.

"I don't even know what the weather is today I am so distracted!" She was seen stroking him whilst telling viewers what to expect from the weather today live from the annual tennis event. "I must say, I am just going to stay here for a while with Ray," Carol then added as the adorable pooch made himself comfortable at her feet.

"How well-behaved is he? He has hardly moved apart from having his tummy rubbed." Sally added from the studio: "I was just saying, Ray reacting the way most people would when meeting Carol Kirkwood," which left Carol to giggle and thank her co-stars.

And as Carol handed back over to the studio, she explained: "I am very happy, he is just perfect," before Ray decided his time on-screen was up. Ray became distracted by something off-camera and walked away from Carol, who was holding his lead, and pulled her out of the shot.

And it appears Carol underestimated how strong Ray was and was dragged across the floor unable to find her footing or keep control of Ray. Back in the studio, Sally was heard exclaiming: "Oh no! Oh Carol, Kirkwood down! It has happened again." She then asked: "Is she ok? Are you ok? Are you alright?"

Carol was unable to answer as she was giggling from the incident, before she joked: "Yes! I don't believe that it has happened again. Chelsea Flower Show all over again." She told the team she was fine before Jon expressed: "We're glad you're ok."

As Carol mentioned, she was previously pulled down by a dog at the Chelsea Flower Show back in 2021. She was taken out by a guide dog as she tried to deliver the weather forecast to viewers. She was also talking to Sally and the show's former host Dan Walker about guide dogs.

As the camera panned back to the studio, however, the huge screen next to the presenters showed Carol being pulled over by one of the dogs - with only her feet in shot. "We’ve got a Kirkwood down," Dan called out from the comfort of the studio. "‘We’ve got a Kirkwood down. Someone save Carol!"
