Cruise ship Carnival Glory struck Carnival Legend and nearly hit Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas in Cozumel on Friday, as seen in video posted by a passenger on board one of the ships.
Matthew Bruin posted the video to his Twitter account showing the Carnival Cruise Line ship as its starboard side of the ship near the stern plowed into the bow of Carnival Legend.
The video was taken from Oasis of the Seas and passengers in the video can be heard concerned that the Carnival ship would also strike the Royal Caribbean ship, although it did not.
Damage to Carnival Glory was visible, but Carnival Cruise Line said both ships should be able to continue sailing.
"Carnival Glory had an allision with Carnival Legend this morning in Cozumel," the cruise line said in a statement. "Carnival Glory was maneuvering to dock when it made contact with Carnival Legend which was already alongside. We are assessing the damage but there are no issues that impact the seaworthiness of either ship."
The cruise line has been in communication with the passengers of both ships.
"We have advised guests from both ships to enjoy their day ashore in Cozumel," the cruise line stated. "There is one reported minor injury of a Carnival Glory guest that occurred when a group of guests were evacuated from the dining room on Decks 3 and 4."
Carnival Legend sails from Tampa while Carnival Glory sails from New Orleans. Oasis of the Seas sails out of PortMiami.
