Carnage on Ayrshire streets as cars crash and man goes on the run

There was carnage on the streets of an Ayrshire town yesterday evening.

A two-vehicle crash saw a car flip on to its side and only 40 minutes earlier police were hunting a man running through gardens.

The chaotic scenes on the streets of Hurlford came in the first weekend of lockdown measures being eased across Scotland.

One eyewitness said that officers were called to reports of a man running through gardens in the town at around 5.40pm, with the individual reportedly landing on an unsuspecting neighbour at one point.

Police have confirmed they were unable to trace the man, who is believed to have sprinted through gardens on Salisbury Avenue, Hollyoake Crescent, Marchmont Crescent and was last seen heading to Galston Road.

Around 40 minutes later, in a separate incident, at 6.21pm, police were then called to a two-car smash on the town's Blair Avenue.

Police confirmed that both vehicles had sustained damage but nobody was injured.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 5.40pm on Sunday, May 31, we received a report of a man running through a garden in Salisbury Road in Hurlford, Kilmarnock.

"The man, who was not traced was last seen heading towards Galston Road."

The police spokesman added: "About 6.21pm on Sunday, May 31, officers attended a two vehicle road traffic crash in Blair Avenue in Hurlford, Kilmarnock.

"Both vehicles were damaged however there are no reports of any injuries."
