Carnage at gym as four cars 'smashed up' in crash as owners worked out

Gym goers were dismayed to find a scene of carnage outside after four parked cars were left "smashed up".

Dramatic images show the aftermath at 24/7 Fitness in Garston, Liverpool, after the cars were totalled in the car park.

Police say they are speaking to a driver after they were called to reports a black Land Rover had hit six cars outside the gym.

An eyewitness said she heard a car alarm as she was walking out of the gym after her workout on Thursday morning and saw a car driving away with the front "literally hanging off".

"I went over to the parked cars and saw multiple vehicles were smashed up," she continued.

"I was shocked - I couldn't believe someone had done something like that."

Pictures show a red Nissan that seemed to have taken the brunt of the force, with its back bumper lying on the ground and a huge dent in its side, while debris is scattered nearby.

A silver Kia, meanwhile, also appeared to have lost its bumper while a silver Volvo and red Audi had also sustained damage.

From the shocking images, some of the cars appeared to be written off and Merseyside Police confirmed they were investigating.

A police spokesman said: "A report was received just before 11.15am that seven vehicles had been damaged after a black Land Rover was in collision with six stationary vehicles at The Matchworks car park.

"The driver of the Land Rover has been located and enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

Urban Splash, who own the building and car park, have been approached for comment.
