Carmen’s Crew defeats Red Scare to advance to Chicago

The Ohio State alumni basketball team known as Carmen’s Crew kept it’s impressive showing in The Basketball Tournament going with a somewhat lopsided 85-71 win over the Dayton Red Scare alumni team Sunday.

With the win, Carmen’s Crew now advances to Chicago for the quarterfinal matchup where it will play the winner of the Salt Lake Region. That game will be at 7 PM on August 1.

It was a nip and tuck affair throughout the first half, with Carmen’s Crew taking just a two-point lead into halftime. But just like Saturday’s victory against Big X, the team used its experience, depth and skill to pull away for an easy victory in the second half.

The team was once again led by William Buford who had 23 points. David Lighty also continued his impressive play — chipping in 18 points, while Aaron Craft continued to play heady and solid defense, capping the game off with a layup winner in the game’s Elam Ending portion.

Darrell Davis paced the Red Scare with 18 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Carmen’s Crew got a little semblance of revenge for the defeat Dayton handed Ohio State in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

Carmen’s Crew seems to be hitting on all strides at the moment, but the competition will only increase each step of the way.
