Last night was a historic night for the Banana Boat Crew and the two Class of 2003 players who played against each other last night. While LeBron James made some positive history in winning a playoff game with his lowest scoring total ever, his ’03 counterpart Carmelo Anthony also had a historic feat for his playoff career.
Last night’s Game 2 loss was the first time in 74 playoff games that Carmelo Anthony failed to grab a rebound. Anthony had previously had one other playoff game in which he had grabbed just one rebound, which was in a blowout win with the New York Knicks over the Boston Celtics in the 2013 playoffs.
The Lakers have held the rebounding advantage in each of the first two games, but they were even more dominant on the glass in Game 2. The Lakers were a +5 in rebounds in Game 1 and followed that up with a +9 rebounding advantage in last night’s Game 2.
